Ovarian Cancer in Michigan
Ovarian Cancer is being fought world wide by many women each day. Over the course of a year, 21,880 women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and 13,850 women die from this cancer (Fishman). Michigan is aware of these facts and is getting involved by hosting concerts, races, and survivor celebrations. We even have survivor courses and conferences. People use their talents to raise money and support women who have Ovarian Cancer. This gives a lot of hope to those who need it.
I got involved in Ovarian Cancer because my friend ended up needing some of that hope last summer. After a crazy summer of camping and hanging out with friends, she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. It started off pretty bumpy, but in the end she beat it. She fought hard, taking online school and going through the chemotherapy process, but she made it. This gave me the encouragement to join the battle against cancer.
